[Loud scratching and thumping noises five minutes later can be heard outside of the door to Caleb's room. There's a pause, a little bit of cursing, something falling and rolling away and someone chasing after it, then coming back.
Few moments fiddling with the doorknob and trying to turn it and then a pause- a loud -thump- and the door finally pushes open. Xayah has, with her talon tightly wrapped around doorknob, managed to open the door because her hands are full with huge bottle of whiskey, mugs, sack with oranges and box of cherries. Her feathery ears perk up, as well as her face, grinning-]
Heh, it's like having four arms!
[She steps in and closes the door with her foot, not as gently as she should.]
That's super fun, I am sure that they've met some in their travels for sure
[ Caleb had not learned to even blink an eye with the strange bedfellows that crossed the Mighty Nein's path all the time, it was actually pretty refreshing to be honest. It was as such where his past had led him from black and white to infinity in terms of colour. He was quick though to get up from the table, quick to walk over to the door and thus hold it open so that she could enter.
While bathed (that was still a point of teasing for him still), he did still look a bit rough around the edges, because he usually forgot to shave or other such things; but forget to look out where the next loot was being held, or even the promise of spells and their obtainment, never- after all he was focused ]
Here, let me help you with that, yeah?
[ Holding the door open and then motioning toward the table cleared of most sundry save for a few things, it was a lot and he should've offered to help, he wasn't thinking or rather his pounding head wasn't thinking precisely. Frumpkin however let out a 'mrrrp' in response and continued to flick his tail like the pendulum of a grandfather clock given furred form.
Now Caleb did take some of the things from Xayah, the box of cherries and the sake of oranges as they seemed to be the most ungainly ]
[It is quite an odd coincidence that she met Caleb the way she did. She doesn't like to draw attention to herself when she goes to bars and taverns, she doesn't like people plucking her feathers(!)- but when push comes to shove, people get drunk and chaos ensues, she doesn't hold back in a bar fight.
She did somehow got overlooked at that previous bar they were at. Probably because someone (read: Yasha) sent a guy flying through the window and crashing everything.
They are yet to make ruckus at this third tavern (the second being one with rough art on the walls).]
Thanks!
[She happily lets him have the fruits from her hands so they don't fall down again and roll away. One of the oranges looks rather beaten up from earlier. Walking over to the table, she nudges whatever's in the way to place the bottle and mugs on it. Then has a brief stare-down with Frumpkin, feathery ears and wings a bit fluffed up, because- a bird and a cat. There's a thing between them.]
We do, actually, [Xayah huffs a laugh, finally taking a seat down, pulling the bottle to herself and proceeding to open it. It's brand new.] At least for today. But we're not touching the fruit until the evening!
[ he should go find spell materials however that can assuredly wait, the alchohol being such that it still has not unhanded him and he is pretty sure that with the mini vacation the Mighty Nein are taking, all those things can be taken care of perhaps tomorrow; talks of war and revenge are not pressing and he does have a sizeable thirst for whiskey though one would not think so with the unassuming way that he is used to holding himself, at a careful distance.
This is one of those circumstances though where he has dropped those guards, at least for a momentary reprieve.
And Frumpkin merely regards her, with those slitted golden eyes though when Caleb uses his eyes, those eyes have been known to have turned blue in contrast to the orange ]
Now, we do not tell this to the others, you hear? This would throw variables into our expirience.
[ said in that clear zeminian accent, and yes he knew very well that if the others (sic: Jester) found out about their fruit expiriement, it would be instant failure on their part-- no fruit left and no real conclusion to theorize, though while drunken science, he still treated it with a level of seriousness ]
[Cat gets a long look, and Xayah nods in a "this a mutual agreement to peace" way, and gives Frumpkin a brief scratch behind the ears. There's alcohol to drink and fruit to experiment with. She makes no comments, good or bad, on Caleb's drinking habits, after all, he's not judging her crazy drinking streak for the past few days.
She runs fingers over he lips, in a 'zip up' motion.]
Not a word. Drinking with Nott taught me a lesson, [she mumbles under her breath, still sore loser for ordering a bottle of drink and offering Nott to share, only to never have even a gulp from it.
She does pull out a feather-looking dagger from her pouch, with purple handle, and slices up the oranges in halves.] Never sharing drinks again with anyone that's not you.
if you want to keep it easy for caleb,in dnd terms, he thank think of her as an aarakocra?
